Professor David Farber is selected to receive the 2020 EPIC Lifetime Achievement Award by Electronic Privacy Information Center. It is a tremendous honour which recognizes Professor Faber’s longtime effort in defending privacy and Internet security. Previous EPIC Lifetime Achievement Award recipients include Peter Neumann, Ron Rivest, Anita Allen, and Whitfield Diffie.
The awarding ceremony was hosted virtually on June 3 EDT with the timely theme on “Privacy in Extraordinary Times”. Peter Neumann announced the award to Professor Farber and acknowledged his enduring contribution to the development of the Internet while safeguarding the individual privacy rights. Professor Farber also called for a collective effort to continue the research work to build a safer and securer computer system to protect our fundamental rights.
