Overview
Keio University Global Research Institute, Cyber Civilization Research Center, Cyber Security Research Center will hold the 14th International Cybersecurity Symposium at Keio University Mita Campus. The theme of this year’s symposium is building “Digital Cyber Security for National Security, Economic Security, and Societal Security”. Any cybersecurity strategy must recognize that national, economic, and societal security are increasingly dependent on digital assets. Thus, cybersecurity must be an integral part of national, economic, and societal strategies. Therefore, the objective of this symposium is to examine cybersecurity practices that reflect the digital dependencies of critical infrastructure, such as power, telecommunications, railroads, finance, healthcare, and water. To this end, we will examine the differences and gaps in cybersecurity policies among countries, regions, G7 and G20, and nurture trusted multilateral partnerships to harmonize global cybersecurity.
The national security thread will address challenges in several bilateral and multilateral frameworks, including Five Eyes, AUKUS, Quad, and NATO. In particular, it builds preparedness for the Taiwan contingency by studying the situation in Ukraine.
The economic security thread will examine critical infrastructure resilience to ensure continued availability of private sector controlled lifelines. A key aspect of resilience is ensuring secure global supply chains.
The societal security thread will address how to establish trusted international digital data flows. To achieve the “Data Free Flow with Trust (DFFT)” as advocated by Japan, the parties should implement the “International Mutual Recognition” and the Institutional Arrangement for Partnership (IAP).
The symposium will feature speakers and panelists from various countries from the fields of National Security, Economic Security, and Societal Security. Representatives from government, industry, and academia will discuss global cybersecurity issues of concern.
