Spring 2020 ~
Keio CCRC & Columbia SIPA
Keio University’s Cyber Civilization Research Center and Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs jointly initiated the Keio CCRC-Columbia SIPA Cyber Dialogue in Spring 2020, to discuss the future path for improving U.S.-Japan cyber cooperation with the goal of understanding the potential digital and cyber challenges that both countries face. The Dialogue brings together a focused group of U.S. and Japanese business, policy, and academic thought leaders to share perspectives, discuss, and seek opportunities to collaborate in the areas of Cyber Norms, Digital Free Trade with Trust, Tech Innovation, and Human Element of Cyber Crisis.
In May 2020 the Dialogue hosted its inaugural public event, Japan-US Digital and Cyber Dialogue: Ensuring Collaboration in a Time of Change. Organized with generous support from the Japan Society, the event theme was Enhancing US-Japan Digital and Cyber Collaboration and featured a keynote speech from UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, Ms. Izumi Nakamitsu, and four panel discussions with former high-level government officials, private sector leaders, and distinguished scholars. Our next major planned event will be a remote session providing perspectives on key Japan-US cyber and digital collaboration challenges and opportunities moving forward in 2021, remotely hosted by Columbia SIPA in April 2021. Details will be forthcoming.
Moving forward, the Dialogue plans to stay active between events by members collaborating to create “bite-sized” media projects such as joint blog postings, videos and podcasts on the themes of the four subgroups. Video recordings of the Dialogue’s 2020 event and “bite-sized” videos are available on the Dialogue’s YouTube channel. Podcasts can be found on the Dialogue’s Spotify page.
Japan-US Digital and Cyber Dialogue: Ensuring Collaboration in a Time of Changeが行われました。
