On December 13, 2023, the Arterial Research and Educational Network in the Asia Pacific (ARENA-PAC), which the APRS (Asia Pacific Resilient Society) Working Group of CCRC serves as the secretariat and the Philippine Research, Education and Government Information Network (PREGINET) announced inauguration of the Manila – Guam link and discussed the potential of the Research and Education Network (REN) in the 3rd Joint PREGINET and COARE Stakeholders’ Meeting in Lanson Place, Pasay City, Philippines.
Operated by the WIDE Project, with the Philippine Research, Education and Government Information Network (PREGINET) announced the inauguration of the Manila – Guam link and discussed the potential of the Research and Education Network (REN) in the 3rd Joint PREGINET and COARE Stakeholders’ Meeting in Lanson Place, Pasay City, Philippines.
This connectivity was achieved as per the MoU signed among the ARENA-PAC and the Republic of Philippines Department of Science and Technology Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI) on November 15, 2022. The 100 Gbps ARENA-PAC network connects PREGINET to Tokyo and other locations through a global REN hub in Guam.
The establishment of the high-speed International Network for Research and Education is expected to enhance cooperation and coordination on research activities, resources, and services that can benefit from high-speed networks; sharing of research data; and Open Science.
